During the early 1700s many enslaved Blacks sought refuge in Spanish controlled Florida. Brother Seneb details the story of CPT FranCisco Menendez. Making his way via the coast of West Africa to the plantations of South Carolina, he participated in wars with the Yamasee and ultimately his leadership established the first free black settlement in colonial America.
