Congrats to Christine from Jackson State University for Landing Dream Job at The Last Microsoft HBCU CONNECT Event! (11417 hits)

Christine was hired after attending one of our recent hiring events with Microsoft's Azure Hardware organization and she shared a few words after joining the team last week.

Congrats Christine!

I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with you all! Today officially marks the end of my first week at Microsoft!

After 7+ years of executing digital transformation initiatives for innovative companies like Carrier, I've decided to transition to the forefront of Digital Transformation. In my new role as a Technical Program Manager, I will be leading the execution of NPI and next-gen programs for Microsoft Azure Hardware's Roadmaps from concept to live.

My first week at #Microsoft has been filled with a ton of information including, NEO onboarding, product overviews, and warm 'Welcome to Microsoft, we're excited to have you' greetings. This week initially felt overwhelming, but I instantly referred back to my learnings from Michael D. Watkins' book, The First 90 Days, recommended by one of my amazing mentors (Thank you!), and began reviewing my 90-day ramp-up plan. I'm excited to have joined a fantastic team and to have the opportunity to be a part of scaling Azure's capabilities beyond the data center.

However, as I reflect on this career transition, I can't help but feel a great deal of gratitude. I'm grateful for all the amazing people I've met and worked with during my time with Carrier and United Technologies. Thank you for your continuous friendship, mentorship, and support throughout my career. The authentic relationships we have built made the decision to part with Carrier a difficult one. But I stand proud that I had the opportunity to leave a bit of my legacy behind, from the Center for Intelligent Buildings' Customer Experience, Digital's Intelligent Automation program, and our impressive early career DT Leadership Program, where it all began. Carrier, your future is bright, and I expect nothing but greatness in the years to come.

As a Black woman in tech, I've learned to trust my instincts and the talents that I bring to the table. I've had to work extremely hard and make a conscious effort not to second guess myself in the professional spaces that I find myself in. Applying to this new role at Microsoft was a leap of faith and way outside of my comfort zone. I've reached a time where I felt that I finally made a name for myself, the thought of having to learn a new company and new team was nerve-racking. But I knew that this fear was a sign that I needed to at least try. And I am so grateful that I did!

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." -Harriet Tubman

P.S. Special thanks to Will Moss and HBCU CONNECT for creating the medium and bridging HBCU talent to top tech companies. I also want to thank my recruiter Robert Weaver, for his patience, insight, attentiveness, and overall pleasant experience during a highly stressful process.
